Interesting prespective Descartes
I share this perspective. It brings to mind a watch that no one would consider a 'maybe' keeper these days... but in 2008, I had just gotten my Rolex LV. I was not sure if I liked or even loved it, even though green is my fave color and I had seen it on a random golfer's wrist and thought, oh wow! I have to have it. However having captured it, I was 'on the fence'. But I went on a trip to London, and decided it would be my watch for that trip. It was only during that 'experience' that I knew I loved that watch. I have now kept it for 12 years... cheers and thanks for sharing.

Only thing that has changed for me

Although I have not bought a disappointing watch in years... there was a period of seemingly constant disappointment... and a situation like this can take a person on the fence and push them over for good.

My finances are focused on essentials (food, bills, well being, etc.) and the only way I remain involved in the watch hobby these days are forums and enjoying what I already have. Not much horological fun going on at Casa Overwound these days.

It has definitely affected my “collecting mindset.” I now think long and hard before considering a purchase and am at the point where there’s only 2-3 particular watches I’d consider buying.
