Jaguar used to be our family cars in the late 90’s.
When my dad broke up with his third wife (God bless him) her XJS needed to be driven and I was the beneficiary. It was a total win all around for the family! It was a great car - design, handling and engine. My dad drove a black Vandem Plas at the time, which I think had 390 hp at a time when that was a lot of power for a sedan. He used to show up at the golf course with a snifter of cognac in the center console. I was like “Dad you can’t do that”. He said “ really?” The story makes me miss him so I’ll stop here and call my dad. Lol.
All this aside going 100% electric is premature. Audi is trying to go all electric sales in Canada by 2030, but the dealers are giving them away. The sales are dominated by petrol engines. The infrastructure and range are inadequate. It’s nonsense. Personally I think hybrids are a better solution, but I will drive petrol until I’m forced not to. Maybe in 2035 there will be a surtax for driving petrol. We shall see. As for Jaguar I think they had a great logo and some great history. I think they have suffered from significant reliability issues and consumers where I am have chosen other luxury cars in the same range. It’s a bizarre move that may erase a good history.

maunfacturer that goes in 100% all electric vehicles may live to regret it. Maybe I am wrong but I don't think the infrastructure, or demand is there to support it. I guess if all makers go 100% electric consumers and muncipalities will have no choice but...
As California is going to require that by 2035 all new cars sold be electric, I was thinking that many brands will be strongly prioritizing EV production.
I don’t know what other states, if any, plan to do the same, but as you suggested I wondered whether the infrastructure will be there (at least for CA). And this is just the US. Jaguar’s decision is indeed bold, but the world will be drastically different...
I have read that multi level
parking garages need to be taken into consideration also. Many that were built previously probably can not support the weight of the electric vehicles.

I live in Southern California, which has a lot of EV drivers, but taking a recent road trip to Palm Springs in my sons EV was sketchy to say the least.

There are countries which will no longer accept the registration of new ICE powered vehicles. You might not know but the first in the world doing that is Ethiopia 😉 Norway is following. It’s inevitable in the meantime 😊🤷🏻♂️

It will requires a lot of time before everyone is comfortable or convinced with EVs unless its forced on us but for now i don’t think fully electric cars isn’t the way to go for now .

Thanks for giving us your thoughts on Jaguar. I was with a senior engineer last week who has just left Jaguar after a long career with the company. His opinion was very interesting and focused on poor management.
If this is the route they are going they should just save themselves the money and close the company.
I saw some ridiculous ad for them recently with no cars and just some androgynous models. Why wait for the inevitable just close shop before the firesale. Hopefully that doesn't trickle over to Land Rover.

I was offered a burgundy XJR - John Haynes' personal car - it was lovely
It was an early model with almost no miles, the Haynes crew had taken the 6-cyl engine apart and put it back together (head gasket), I already had about 8 cars, and I just couldn't convince myself I needed another one.
