A. Lange & Söhne

I don‘t believe that L&S will change anything ...

... I have written to Glashütte to tell them about my disappointment. I did not even get an answer after weeks of writing.

And I disagree with you regarding the issue of Used Watches. I believe that the brands are becoming more and more dependent on buyers in the secondary market. Especially in this fast and shiny world, many people buy luxury products to show off. They always need the newest and hottest stuff to compete at Instagram & Co. If they don‘t find a market for things they want/must get rid off the market for new products will suffer.

L&S suffered from this for a long time as many flippers in the watch scene knew that values for used watches have been low and stayed away from L&S. Do you believe that so many people would buy Rolex steel sports watches when it would be common that those watches loose 30-50% the moment you leave the dealer?

L&S is selling approximately 5000 watches a year. They should have a perfect understanding who is long-term fan and collector. The guys in the respective L&S Boutique know me for years. I have handed in watches for service but I never bought a watch in this boutique. And this is the only thing that matters.

Anyway, life is to short to spend to much time on this topic. I am still happy with the Datograph and L1 and that’s it.

Instead of the Odysseus I will continue to enjoy my RO15202 which I got before this bizarre hype about steel sports watches started. And I sincerely hope that the hype about the Odysseus will come to an end in a few years and teaches L&S a certain humility again. Arrogance is not a proven attribute for longterm success.
