It is interesting to read about Purists' perspective and how they interpret the novelties.
The 5320's movement is the 324 caliber with a new PC module. Indeed the dial layout is something we talked about in the past and wished to see coming back in a PC from the collection. I hope the dial will look as good in real. The lugs are also coming from the 2405.
I must say that I'm not very keen on this 5650 dial either.
About the vintage inspiration, it is a balance between using classical elements (as the hands type for instance) and not going too far when picking them. The final result must be coherent and homogeneous, we must feel it is made to be working together.
Some people from the latest generations don't even know the vintage versions of a novelty we get nowadays. I must say that before Omega presented the Seamaster 300 recently and the Railmaster this year, they weren't watches I knew really. I know the Speedmaster line-up but not really the rest :p
Hence, it could be seen as a good thing as long as they are nicely designed today.
This is quite difficult for brands to manage that. However, I totally understand your opinion and releasing year after year older updated references is really not satisfactory, and looks like they go the easy way. We want imagination, exploration of new paths and for some models or some brands, technical evolutions too (next to more traditional stuff of course).
I guess that sometimes brands go the easy way. But I think that only WIS will see it, hence I don't know if brands will take that into account.
That's why I just try to forget the internet sometimes and ask myself do I really like this model or not. Quite simple
Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts on the collection Julian!
Best, Mark
