Hello dear friends! I have the pleasure to be your host this weekend starting today Friday and running till Sunday 26th at around 5 PM UTC. As I explained in my previous announcement this time I had the unexpected help of a good friend while thinking abou...

Here a few shots of the watches I recommended to my friend…

An steel Rolex Datejust or Grand Seiko Though I wouldn’t recommend a vintage watch to a person who is not involved with watches I had this lovely specimen at hand to show him. A GS could be a great option to choose among the many models in their catalog A...

I completely agree with you about the vintage watch market …

 By: Cpt Scarlet : March 24th, 2023-23:29
A minefield for the uninitiated. The Seamaster Aqua Terra is much underrated and a quality choice.

There's an AT I've lusted after . . .

. . . instantaneous annual, Abel . . . . . . which makes Omega's movement a rarity - I can think of only a few other annual or perpetual calendars that switch over in the flick of a second.

Very nice 👌

 By: Cpt Scarlet : March 27th, 2023-10:23

Wow, my dear friend Abel !.. What a great theme and you picked some very good yet attractive examples to make your point, also in the intro !

 By: hs111 : March 25th, 2023-11:35
I truly, as so many times, enjoyed your choices, and also different shots for a given watch !.. The first shot, in colored green for your fine Datejust is nifty it its expression. My personal favs, next to the pic of the GS, which really is timeless, and ...

... to illustrate the opening post. I fully agree with you regarding the task requeriments involved in giving an advice to another person asking our help to choose just four or five Must Have pieces to start a collection. This is part of the challenge we ...

An interesting title and thanks for the effort, Abel🥃

I would use my own interpretation for the 'Four' categories. Firstly is the 'daily beater': A seiko diver (6105 is my fave, remake though) should be a great introduction for a new watch fan. Secondly is the 'weekend watch', insert any rolexes for its 'pres...

Hello saintseiyaikki. Welcome to our event and thanks a lot for your participation with the four Must Have Watches choices.

 By: Subexplorer : March 25th, 2023-20:15
I´m very fond of the Williard watch of which I own both the vintage and the modern version. The modern version gives the possibility of wearing with no fears in any place: land, sea or pool. I wouldn´t risk a vintage one in those places. Great shots to sh...

Super fun theme!

Hello Aquaracer! Thank you so much for your contribution to our event this weekend. I´m happy to know you like the theme chosen.

 By: Subexplorer : March 26th, 2023-14:56
You share a very nice four Must Have watches options here. The SM AT from Omega is a great choice which deserves more attention as I have said in my post. A lovely multi purpose watch with low profile can serve as a stealth watch so well or also as a dres...

Thank you Abel

No way around a Speedmaster

 By: Marcus Hanke : March 24th, 2023-13:59
I tried it for years. Speedmaster is too broring, I said. Everybody has one, and I'm not everybody, I said. However, sooner or later I realized that if I want a chronograph with perfect legibility, there is barely any alternative to a Speedmaster - but an...

It took twenty years for me to finally come around to a Speedmaster, Marcus . . .

My recommendations for diving watch…

 By: Subexplorer : March 24th, 2023-14:02
The Submariner is always a great choice but probably not the easiest watch to find presently (at least from an official AD or boutiques) But fortunately there are many superb options of diving watches made by different brands. Here two or three favorites ...

All excellent choices …

 By: Cpt Scarlet : March 24th, 2023-23:32
Omega Seamaster Vs Rolex Submariner is an interesting subject all of its own.

Thank you so much for your comments dear Captain. Agree with you that the Seamaster vs Submariner dilemma is an interesting subject all of its own.

 By: Subexplorer : March 25th, 2023-00:14
I´m a bit biased on the Submariner though I enjoy owning several Seamasters of different variants as you know. Best, Abel

I have the same feeling about this subject …

What you have said sums up my feelings.

My Stealthy watch recommendations…

 By: Subexplorer : March 24th, 2023-14:10
My favorite is my Hamilton Khaki manual wind. Of course an automatic movement would be best for a person not accustomed to wind his watch every day. There are many options in this category from many brands of course both from Hamilton and many other brand...

Keeping within a reasonable budget when starting on your collecting journey is definitely something to take into consideration. Four excellent choices even if the MAD 1 could be difficult to obtain at list.

Dear Abel, an interesting topic this week!

Thank you so much for your great entry! Superb choices you are suggesting as four Must Have Timepieces here.

 By: Subexplorer : March 25th, 2023-19:51
You are right that the VC Patrimony Traditionelle is not easy to excel. A prestigious brand, a classic and classy dress watch and an awesome finished movement ticks all boxes. I´m glad to see that most of the entries agree in filling the chrono category w...

Thanks Abel

I try to rotate my watches frequently - I seldom wear the same one two days running. This weeks Wristscan made me think of the beginning of all our journeys - and reconnect with some memories along the way - thanks!

Many thanks - I agree!

 By: Timeout : March 27th, 2023-11:38
I wore it on Saturday evening - out to dinner. It’s elegant and understated - unlike the Zeitwerk Striking Time I’d be wearing during the week😂

Now that you have introduced your friend……

 By: Timeout : March 25th, 2023-16:13
to our world he is on a slippery slide to the rabbit hole world of horological spending. I think it only fair to him (and his bank account) to skip the mid process and go strait to 4 exit watches 🤣 - perhaps next week!

Ha ha ha!! You are absolutely right!!

 By: Subexplorer : March 25th, 2023-19:36
That’s part of the risk of asking a watch nut for advice! Can’t wait to know my friend’s thought when he views and reads all the recommendations posted in this event! Lol! Cheers Abel

If he’s only purchases the Moonwatch Professional

 By: Timeout : March 27th, 2023-11:40

Ahh Yes! Agree!
