IWC

You bring up a great point!

The Laureato series is another great data point that wasn't mentioned (there really are a lot of choices to consider in the integrated sports watch territory). The Laureato certainly has a nicer base movement than this Ingenieur. And the biggest disconnect here is that IWC has the Mark XX model with a similar movement at almost half the price. Now, true, VC's American Historique 1921 ($40,000 MSRP) model has the same VC 4400 caliber as the 82172 Traditionelle ($23,700 USD MSRP) which is a huge premium for a watch with a similar movement; but that 1921 case is much bigger, much more gold intensive, and for some reason the uncharges in the high-end seem to be more justifiable than in the lower end. I guess the market is a bit biased in favor of the higher end?
