Very Overpriced
Is IWC is banking on the consumer to be uninformed about the Ingenieur's movement? Are they relying heavily on Gerald Genta's name? Do they know the people that know about Gerald Genta will also question the movement?
I think the Ingenieur will flop because of the pricing. Maybe I will just wait till they show up in the grey market for 40% off. IWC is not that brand that catches regular consumers and even enthusiasts attention. None of their watches hold value. IWC is simply not that brand that can be charging that much.
Everybody is going to compare the pricing to "the crown". The Rolex Submariner is the benchmark. IWC needs to make the Ingenieur marketable by either pricing lower or higher than the Rolex Submariner. Rolex ownes the market for watches at ~10k so I do not expect any brands to market any watches in the 10k territory. But IWC choosing to market the Ingenieur higher than the Submariner is bonkers.
