Neither is the modern one.
I'd say the design is so far departed from the one Genta designed that it's too big of a difference.
Ferdinand Porsche designed both the Volkswagen Bug and the Porsche 911. They both have similar layouts too, and are similar in many ways. But they're considered very different cars; one is considered a luxury sports car and the other is considered an economical city car. But hey! Same designer! But quite different. Well... Some will say that the new IWC looks similar to the old one, and same designer. But also, some will say they're very different. The Patek Philippe Nautilus and the AP Royal Oak don't look very different from their original interactions from 50 years ago. But this IWC looks very different.
And still... The Mark XX uses the exact same movement and is very similar to the new INGENIEUR. Is the new INGENIEUR really worth 2x the price? I feel it was a bad decision on IWC's part to use the same movement or to charge that much more than the XX. It sends the wrong message. But clearly, not everyone shares these thoughts.
