I usually travel with only one watch.
If it’s a business trip, one dress watch, and if on vacation, usually a rubber or bracelet watch - usually a Berguet Marine or a Rolex DJ. Recently, a more understated one, the Linde Werdelin has made it to the ranks of favourite vacation watch, just because any of these three would be able to withstand anything from water to sweat.

Yes, travelling with expensive watches can be unsafe. Doesn't matter whether it is 5-star hotel. Employees have sharp eyes, even when you wear a long sleeve shirt and a jacket.. For myself, I usually travel with a steel watch (Rolex, Tudor, Longines, VC)....
