How do you travel with your watches? When I travel on vacation, as I am now, I either wear a g-shock, or a sport watch that I can wear the whole time, in the water, everywhere. How do purists travel with multiple watches or with a dress watch? Because sometime you have to leave a watch somewhere! I ask because I have read about how unsafe hotel room safes are and how things get stolen very easily from hotels with no recourse. I usually take 2-3 watches
My Breitling Aerospace and my Citizen Eco-Drive, or my Seiko perpetual GMT because I don’t want to lose or damage valuable ones. I keep the spares in my extra pair of shoes.

I never travel with a very valuable watch...
... But, sometimes, I take two watches with me. Normally, when I am in a rented flat or house, where I have a better control on security. Otherwise, a one-for-all timepiece must do.

Yes, travelling with expensive watches can be unsafe. Doesn't matter whether it is 5-star hotel. Employees have sharp eyes, even when you wear a long sleeve shirt and a jacket..
For myself, I usually travel with a steel watch (Rolex, Tudor, Longines, VC). Whenever I travel with a dress watch, I usually leave the steel watch behind in the hotel room. Hidden in the luggage.
Should I walk about with both watches, I wear both watches (left and right wrist).
IMO, it is necessary to exercise care even if the loss of a watch is affordable. The aggravation of being violated, and having to do the paper work is annoying.

Depends where i am going. If i can take a bracelet watch so i can wear all the time, Im not too concerned. I can wear my Grand Seiko since most people will just see the name Seiko and won’t know its a good watch.
If I’m going somewhere where i would not feel safe i might wear my Citizen Echo .

But first and foremost I get everything insured for piece of mind. Then I typically don't bring "limited" watches and watches that are somewhat replaceable. Then the rest I typically will bring one dress watch, one water watch, and one scuba watch! Good luck with your choices!
Just one cheap sports watch
If something was to happen to it, I could easily forget about it without ruining my holiday and wasting time to report to the local police. I don't want to make myself an easy target for the criminals.
I try to travel with stealthier watches...
Grand Seiko is a great travel piece, for instance 😊 So if no one sees anything of interest, the likelihood of opening hotel safes is less - and you are right, those are super easy to open.
If you travel with more watches a slim case you can carry with (inner suit pocket) may be an option, too 👍🏻

Mostly i go to CH or A and i always travelling with a Rolex, which need to service. In both countries i have watchmaker friends and they do it in a few days. [nt]

I used to travel with ‘everything’.
Nowadays I wear a watch which shows time and can easily go to the pool. This means Rolex or Tudor.
In case I have an important dinner or something similar, I might take something nicer with me type platinum Patek.
It was too close that my life ended last May. I still love beautiful watches but those are still just watches. There are so many things which are for me so much more important...
Just now I enjoy the Arctic winter days in Lapland with my wife, four daughtes and dog. What made this Christmas very special is that daughter #2 , 22 years, just got her Bachelor of Medicine. Daugher #1, 24 years, will graduate next summer from a UK university (if Brexit allows) and daughter #3, 19 years, managed to complete well her first semester in med. school. These are things to enjoy!
I took only one watch with me for a two weeks trip: Rolex Yacht-Master and I am happy with that. When getting home next year, I will wear again a Patek or a new Rolex I am expecting in January.

When they’ll graduate,
I am still young. Naturally everything ia relative. The ages of my wife, youngest daughter and myself is totally less than 98 years. That makes less than 33 years in average.

Once you have stared in to the abyss, watches can be a pretty overrated thing and you realize the most basic things in life are the most beautiful and worth chasing. Being with your dear ones. Enjoying the beautiful nature. So, a simple, nice and reliable watch is all you want. Other times, a fine piece can add the spice of enjoyment and aesthetics in a life that goes way too fast.

Lapland is full of English tourists and in a couple of weeks the Chinese weeks will start. Luckily we are in the Middle of Nowhere but in 15 minutes in the Middle of Action.

I have visited Lapland for 35 years and I have owned a house and some properties bere for 27 years. The house is far away from the local style.

I guess you cannot fool the locals in Lapland with this one. The house looks out towards Lake Shikotsu.

There is a trick we have in Lapland.
Look and count from the end of the log the age of the pine used:
You can "easily" count the number of the circles and each one represent one year of growth. But that's not the whole trick: the pine used is from the Arctic meaning the it is very tight and heavy.
We have no isolation in the house but when the logs used are roughly 100-300 years of age, the house is warm in the winter and not too hot in the summer. Naturally windows have three layers of glass.
There's a reason why ladies have fur coats here. A warm house, correct clothing and enough vodka means it's never too cold.

my friends would not drink with me but push me to the room of the ladies. Different rules in Lapland... I'm wearing Canada goose here.
My wife is always wearing a fur coat when it's cold. This time she has with her a mink coat of antique silver colour.

I too enjoyed the time spent with my family over the holidays.
My daughter(6yo) asked me what I wanted for Xmas. As I didn’t have anything I really wanted, I said spend time with family n make sure everyone is happy. She replied “daddy I meant Xmas presents”. So I just rambled things like a new car, a new watch.. her reply “but u already have those stuff”
To sum it up, I have everything I need, I just wanna enjoy the rest of my life.
