General leanings to 36mm
I’m seeing a leaning towards 36mm, as you expected. It made me think, and it’s true that the 36mm sizes perhaps have a certain vintage reminiscence, as well as looking elegant in a way that larger watches trade off. But the 41mm don’t wear too big. I have a green 41, but never thought to try a 36mm.

In the end, I’ll still stick with Yellow-41.
Just like sebks said, the 41 doesn’t seem to be too large.

I haven't seen these in the metal but my overall feeling about the non-sport models is that they appear too bulbous over 40mm, where the narrowness of the lugs and the dial size simply don't incorporate very well. So unless you have huge wrists, 36mm gets...

Agreed! I’d rock a candy pink-36 over all the others.
But it seems there aren’t many of these around.
My first choice would be 36MM yellow,
but as @lberti mentioned the Tiffany blue is quite nice.

Well I was convinced one way until I had an opportunity to handle several versions side by side. What struck me was I leaned towards different sizes depending on color of the dial…
Here is an idea: The brighter the dial (or metal), the more a 36mm works versus a 40+mm.
Just my rule. I like the yellow 36mm over the red 36mm.

To me it’s a little less loud (I know, that might be a strange opinion). Also, with these colours I do think the smaller case is also more subtle.

I suppose it comes down to the purpose of the watch… 36 is subtle yet 41 playful
Because that would make it less complicated
