Patek Philippe

A 42, 2 mm platinum case, 11, 6 mm high for this Alarm Travel Time from Patek. The Alarm can be set on 24 hours, and the big question is to know if it chimes like a minute repeater or not. I would say yes, but I need a confirmation. The dial is ebony blac...  

For PP to incorporate an alarm feature into a travel watch, as I'm guessing much of its clientele travel regularly, so kudos on that. I have to think that it would be a little more attractive if they were able to incorporate some of the setting and windin... 

The price is quite extraordinary which explains why Patek has classified this watch as a grand complication instead of merely as a complication. The price is too complicated for me!

are short changed as a Patek Chronograph is classified as a Complication and not a Grand Complication. Not sure why.

Bit unfortunately a stretch for my wallet. Also platinum 42.2mm is likely a bit too heavy for my wrist but I think it is a top top cool release. Bravo!

at that price point it is a no go for me.... there are simply too many alternatives up at that level that would place themselves ahead in the queue

... being the Breguet Reveil du Tsar and Blancpain GMT Reveil. That price point gave me a serious chuckle, I have to admit. This to goes beyond the usual Patek surcharge. Cheers Henrik

IF it sounds like a minute repeater, then there will be the second or the third to do so. The addition of a superlative alarm and a travel watch pleases me a lot. The way it is designed doesn't drive me crazy, though. And the price is making me scratch my... 

It has all gone a little haywire, as have I, having switched to an Apple Watch and can’t find any compelling reason to give these new PP trinkets a try. Still have a mechanical collection, but mostly older pieces now.

The movement had only one hammer thus producing one note. I would think that the one note would be played multiple times at the designated alarm time.

though I would think Patek would make a point to mention this. I guess we will find out shortly!

But Nico mentioned it precisely: let’s not rush to judgement, particularly vis-a-vis cosmetics, until we’re through the handling and gestation period 😊

I'd be intrigued to hear what it sounds like too. I'm I interpreting it correctly that the alarm time is shown in dial apperture? Does it mean it can only be set to the quarter hour? Cheers JML

the complication even if it's not a grand is very usefull. Nico, you have to show me your sonotra. So many stunning pieces you have, we need to catch next time I'm in town.

That ref 5520P won't be available for handling or listening at BaselWorld.. that's disappointing. Although one can view the watches in the cabinets at the fair, unless you have an appointment one is unable to handle them. After all it is really a trade fa...

It is a very good strategic addition to the Pilot Calatrava line, targeted at a very niche market. In my opinion, the main point for PP here is to create extra status for the Pilot - with the use of a "Grand Complication" within the line - and to boost in... 

I find four pushers two on each side of the case to be a bit odd
