Patek Philippe

Huge thanks Patrick for such a beautiful, intelligent, and typically thought-provoking thread! :-) Your contributions to our Patek forum, as well as on current topics of critical importance, are as always invaluable!

While I don't have much to add to your detailed list of suggestions to ADs and collectors alike, this reminds me that, in Math, one of the first things we teach students is the potentially big difference between a "necessary" and a "sufficient" condition (a.k.a., "only if" vs. "if")....  My sincere hope is that each of your excellent points will not only be critical (or necessary) in order for an AD to keep their Patek agency, but perhaps even more important, sufficient! smile And I'm afraid there are very few guarantees at this time, given the ever-evolving situation to consider for Patek Philippe, and the *many* cuts that, regardless, will need to take place during the next several months.

A Patek license is arguably THE single best thing that can happen to a jeweler, anywhere on this planet. And once gone, it is gone for good. While I haven't spoken to everyone in this business, I know for certain that *many* ADs, including those who I have no reason to believe have performed below expectations in any critical area, are currently anxious about their future. And so are, to varying degrees, many valuable collectors of our Brand, especially if they solely relied on one AD for their recent purchases.

As I'll be following this thread and our members' replies with interest, let me only reiterate that I hope the situation will soon be MUCH more clear for all parties involved --- ADs, collectors, and Patek Philippe itself! smile

Cheers my friend.
