Funny...
I sat this afternoon to a coffee shop in Helsinki, took a cappuccino and checked the latest posts using my iPhone. I found it very surprising that you bought 5711/1A and as surprising that I had this on my wrist:
Surprising. Why? I do not much wear my Nautilus but when I wear, the watch is normally 3712/5712. That version is my favourite one.
I bought my first Nautilus in 2005 and those days I was super-excited. Nowadays, to borrow your words, I am lukewarm or perhaps lukewarm plus. It's very true that Nautilus is super slim, it's sportive, it's unique, it's fashionable, it's "hot", etc. At the same time Patek has so many references I like much more.
Would I sell my 5711/1A. Surely not as it's nearly mandatory to have a Nautilus or two in the "collection". But please note, I had the opportunity to buy both 40 years Anniversary models and I refused. I simply did not like the ideas Patek had with those two watches. While with 5650G Aquanaut I did not need a minute to consider.
Often 3700 is praised. I have a full and complete, perfect 3700-001 which I should get back from Geneva any day. I'm not a vintage guy and thus this watch is not really making me very excited.
I congratulate you for your new 5711/1A. I am sure that it's having a place in your collection.
Best, Kari
