I think the 5711 is a nice watch, but not one I had initially considered buying. Because of it’s popularity on the forums I had wondered if I should get one. Looking forward to hearing your views when you’ve had it longer.

I have my reservations about the 5711 due to the way it looks on my wrist, but consider it a cool watch. I am very interested to read your 1-year summary.

......the 5711a is definitely cool. No question that there are some great angles to this watch....yet......... ......I am not 100% at all convinced that I like it. Give time...see how it settles....I will be back.

Funky and cool it is. Now, I am not a big fan. I had the 5712 and decided to let it go to partially fund a 5070G. And I don't regret my choice. But I am not a Patek Collector, once again.I stick on my words: Cool and funky, sport chic, even, but not total... 

I think it is an important watch....yet I am left wondering if my venture into Nautilus should have been 3700 rather than 5711. That feeling exists for me.....

I like Nautilus a lot but like I said I find 3712/5712 much more interesting than 5711/1A. In fact 3712 is as thin as 5711 and the movement is much finer plus the dial is something very special. There are watches causing me sleepless nights like 5370P, 51...

"amazing" even "extraordinary". While those words obviously describe the 5711 to the writer thereof, I would never use any of those descriptions and I say that as an owner. Yes, I like and appreciate the watch quite a bit. It is "cool", definitely versati... 

Yes....it certainly has something, but there is a nagging doubt in my head constantly with it. Like you, i get drawn into a dial....and that is a big factor for me. WIth the 5650G, i cannot take my eyes off the dial. In a sense, it is probably not a coinc...

......I think you are thinking about my 5970p, if i am correct? Portholes.....yes, I do not like them. And I know that some people think that the 5650G has two portholes.....this is a common misunderstanding. The 5650G was from the advanced research team....

And if I needed to go swimming or skiing or cycling in a Patek it would be 100% a 5980 with blue dial for me all day long. I have a real soft spot for this watch. Again it’s because I’m a complicated man. M.

Did not think I was the only one.... 5980 is my most worn watch I would say... works perfectly for my lifestyle needs

For many Patek fans and collectors, the Nautilus is one of the core watches of an overall collection given its history and design. Each PuristS has his/her own criteria and it is good to hear a contrarian view. I await your future post on your final decis...

Interesting...i had never thought of it like that...i think its more that i got tempted to range off-piste for a moment of madness! When I say Fiat 500, I look at it as "within" the entire Patek Philippe range. With, perhaps, a Minute Repeater Tourbillon ...

Glad to see you here. Yes.....your comments to resonate for me. As a collector, I see my collection as having gaps and the Nautilus is most definitely one area where there is a gap. Only time will tell if the 5711a fills that gap. Thanks for your wrods an... 

Baron, I enjoyed reading your post. I have been wearing a Nautilus for 15 years. I think it's the watch I've worn the most. I bought the 3710/1A way back then at what today seems like a crazy price (around $8,000). I think it's the Patek I have that's app... 

....I think your post demonstrates an interesting aspect to collecting watches. We are all so different with literally dozens if not many dozens of variables affecting what we like in a watch and how important each of those variables is will also differ. ...

Skoda is an outstanding mass produced car, also very common. Just like 5711. Nice design, very well made but nothing special in the engine room. At the same time 5650 is rare, full of new innovation combined with fantastic design. Wearing 5650 is as comfy...

I see minute markers missing between 55-05min

....surely that is because there is a double marker at 12. Its just the design.....
