Watches maybe passion to us, but to the sales and ADs, watches are their livelihood.

I have been supporting the same few ADs throughout my few years of collecting and I have no problem whatsoever getting my hands on most of the coveted pieces at retail. There is no under table dealing or secret & quick way to build a rapport with these people except to show them support at times when it matters the most.
If all you want is a steel sports watch, then pay the premium and buy it from the market or be on the waitlist. If your loyalty to your AD doesn't pay off, I'm sorry then, perhaps that is something the brands should look into. But if a VIP customer who has bought minute repeaters, grande complications and countless diamond watches decides to flip a 6007a he just got, that is his right, and there is nothing wrong with that even if a passionate watch aficionado was denied one at retail in this process. Such is the way of life.
This is the luxury watch business we are talking about, yet some people are constantly whining about not being able to purchase a steel sports watch at retail as if it is their birthright to do so. If something you want can't be bought at retail then let it go, if you cannot let it go, then pay the premium.
