You're arguing for the status quo

 

I'm arguing that as consumers/readers we should demand more openness because we are implicitly agreeing to current industry practice by not challenging it and it will perpetuate. Who wins in the long run? I don't know for sure but I have a hunch it will not be me more often than not.

Hodinkee in my mind has never sold a modern VC watch, only vintage VC watches that are not in the VC catalogue. They sold the modern Zenith which is a completely different company than VC. So no Hodinkee did not already have a known business relationship with VC that anyone should have been aware of.
