. . . regarding disclosure.  When Glashütte Original surprised the daylights out of yours truly with a Senator Sixties as an indefinite term loan*, I'm pretty sure the origins of the watch were established in the first paragraph of my initial review.  (Possibly the second . . . it was a very long time ago.)

Re the gist of Joe's topic: Hodinkee may have a vast readership, but they do not have an interactive community as we do here.  That, in my humble opinion, is a meaningful distinction.  Communities are dependent upon ethical behavior.  For us, transparency is essential; for others, not so much.
