Let's get back to watches so we don't have to delete more emotion-laden threads

Avoid red-flag topics!

If the word Vegan is too emotion-provoking, don’t post about it!

Avoid talking about “slaughterhouse videos on YouTube”

Avoid insulting others by saying things like “halal and kosher are barbaric” - it’s fair to have an opinion but keep it to yourself when a large number of our group are of a different faith and practice

Please. We are here to enjoy watches. This is a global site.

We can talk about food but not by inadvertently or intentionally inflaming and insulting those we don’t agree with.

Thank you.

Is anyone here VEGAN?

 By: Mostel : January 2nd, 2020-14:44
Dare I even mention the provocative WORD? Or perhaps, like myself, you are 'taking a break' from animal products as many of us do this time of year after the indulgence of the holidays? ? Any fun food you recommend? I do not like the word VEGAN, btw... to...

Yep, i am.

I do really like fastfood actually, so when i dont care about my health i eat many Hamburgers. I personally prefer the incredible burger from Nestle over the beyond-version for its healthier ingredients. As a vegan, you can basically eat whatever you want...

I am all in favour of people making right choices and ethical eating.

 By: Bounce781 : January 2nd, 2020-15:22
I eat meat but many of my friends are vegan (or vegetarian). My only reason for piping up here is a rebuttals the “slaughterhouse video comment”. Before you get too self-righteous about avoiding meat, you might want to check out the same YouTube for video...

I couldn't possibly eat a vegan diet, more like the caveman diet for me

 By: mpg13 : January 2nd, 2020-15:31
That said ethics are important. If possible I purchase meat from animals that are raised and slaughtered humanely. I would never knowingly purchase kosher or halal meat as the method of slaughter is barbaric.

Thanks mpg [nt]

When a cattle eats 16 kg food to "produce" just 1 kilo beef,

 By: Reuven Malter : January 2nd, 2020-15:54
As a meat eater you get that slaughterhouse thing plus the "industrial vegetable farm"-thing because animals do not grow bigger without lots of food and medicine. I think people should avoid harming others, so no, not every non-meat product is ethically c...

One of my choices is... DO NOT JUDGE

 By: Mostel : January 2nd, 2020-19:16
This is a very personal choice ( about health) and NOT POLITICAL. Thanks Bounce.

Thank you Reuven

I did not expect a single reply and there are many to read... the world is changing... I really appreciate this information... cauliflower is the new 'junk food' depending how you prepare it... haha

Thank you Reuven!

As I said, I try to avoid the word Vegan, which is divisive, except for this post, which--let's face it--a provocative post is fun... but yes... I am with you... and for whoever is reading this... it is a slow, gradual, cumulative journey... and as much a...

Mostel, thanks for your moderate comment

Writing in a way everyone is "ok" with 👍

I’m not Vegan but I stopped eating meats and animal fats 4 years ago

 By: descartes1 : January 2nd, 2020-15:39
I eat lots of seafood and very lean turkey or chicken, along with non-animal based fats and proteins. Basically a Mediterranean diet. I eat like this due to a heart issue, but I was never really a big meat eater.

The choices are endless

 By: Mostel : January 2nd, 2020-19:18
And the recipes are also endless... thanks.

Interesting. descartes...

. . . as a pescetarian - with lapses over the holidays. Fond of most vegetables . . . my favorite dish is guacamole.

I just looked it up because i didnt knew the word.

 By: Reuven Malter : January 2nd, 2020-16:25
Now i know you are a true trendsetter since the word "pescetarian" is not even thirty years old - but the concept is obviously much older. I would think Dr. No could have been a pescetarian back then in 1962 as well. He at least looks like one. Very cool!...

If 'perfect' is defined as 'minimally essential', then . . .

 By: Dr No : January 2nd, 2020-16:39
. . . Dr No's guacamole . . . . . . is literally a perfect dish. Consumed with carrot, celery, and daikon radish, a large helping contains virtually every nutrient one needs. Delicious, too. ;-) Of course, man does not live by guac alone. Garbanzo bean sa...

Wow!!! You should write a cookbook:

Actually, I've posted a few recipes on TimeOut in the distant past . . .
