1. Omega CK 2988 - the blue Panda. I was waiting and looking for this one impatiently when it was first shown. And, Omega being Omega, time kept going by. The local boutique did not get any, so I was forced to look elsewhere. I happened to be in Geneva for a meeting and the timing was really short to make the flight back. But, I had an extra 10-15 minutes to spare, so I sprinted to the Omega boutique and, literally, yelled from the door 'Do you have a CK 2988?' They said 'Why yes. Yes we do. In fact we have 3, so you can pick your serial number.' I was in shock but also terrified of missing my plane. It was the quickest watch purchase I ever made.
2. This one is pure fantasy. Some years ago, I decided I love Voutilainen watches and I would get one. I looked around, and I did find a few that were for sale. But, I decided to not buy on the secondary market, as that doesn't help the watchmaker, which, in case of Indys, is important. So, I contacted Mr. KV himself directly and asked about the Vingt-8, which at the time was the only model made continuously. I was informed that the wait is approximately 1 year. Then, I popped a question about some of his other one-off models. And this is where it strikes.
He informed me that, on that same day, they were taking orders for his new model, the GMR. And only 12 would be made. I booked my slot instantly, without asking any questions. I can't believe my luck to this day.
Now a proud owner of 1 out of 12 GMRs, and, as per the legendary Mr. KV himself, one of only 2 GMRs with a white dial. Oh yeah, and it won 2015 GPHG Men's Watch prize.
That last pic was from when I first got it and my hands were shaking, sorry...
Added bonus: the KV brought me here, and was a catalyst to all the friendships I made on this wonderful forum.
HAGWE, all.
