My lucky punch story...
Feb 14, 2019,13:09 PM
in fact, I do have a few but this one sticks out as it is today my signature watch...
The GP WW.TC To John Harrison with its special hand-painted enamel dial has been a dream watch for me for a long time and a dream it was.
It was basically out of reach for me or would have demanded too many sacrifices, so I was not very hopeful this could ever become reality.
For one, there were only 50 made, so having one that actually comes for sale does not happen that often.
But one was for sale, okay priced, but still out of reach and also outside the EU.
And then I had a "cunning plan" to say it with Baldrick
I considered to trade a vintage JLC from my collection. The value however was not even near that I could afford an up-trade, set myself a max. budget on what I can spend to top it up and started the discussion with the seller.
In the end, we exactly settled at my max. budget, agreed on a face-to-face trade in Germany and I could actually make it happen. A real lucky punch for a few reasons:
Lucky to have found 1 of 50
Lucky to have had a "cunning plan"
Lucky to come to an agreement and
Very lucky to be happy with the WW.TC To John Harrison!
