in fact, I do have a few but this one sticks out as it is today my signature watch... The GP To John Harrison with its special hand-painted enamel dial has been a dream watch for me for a long time and a dream it was. It was basically out of reach for me...

. . . acquisitions - fully agreed on that point, Nick. I've had a few, including the vintage Omega I'm wearing today. Try finding a balance assembly and a pallet fork for a 30T2rg. Not an easy task. But well worth the effort ;-) . . . ...  

. . . when a candidate would pop up but funds weren't available. Can't remember exactly, but it had to be at least several, maybe half a dozen. Once, an excellent 910 with orange hands was literally on my wrist. A friend of a friend had just acquired it, ... 

As for the person, I don’t think it’s intentional but some people simply attach a lot less value and don’t take meticulous care, when it comes to watches. So probably not a watch collector in that case 😉

Hi My luck (predictably some might say) came from Japan. It also proves how dangerous this place is! Saw pictures of the urushi Seiko posted here and was instantly struck. As it was a JDM I had to order it directly and I couldn't get my greasy mitts on it...

But in the interests of the Olympic Ideal, here may Seiko SCVL002 aka 6810-8000. Made in early 1990s in tiny numbers (before the re-launch of mechanical GS), with Seiko‘s thinnest hand wound movement. I found mine relatively quickly but have not seen anot...
