The WS for the 14th of April - ‘Pilot Watches’ - is live

 By: KMII : April 14th, 2023-12:03
As announced earlier the theme for this weekend will be pilot watches. One of the early genres of wristwatch, they remain popular to this day, even if lately some other categories garnered more attention. So high time to redress the balance and show some ...

Some of mine as a kick-off…

We have take off ! …

 By: Cpt Scarlet : April 14th, 2023-12:57
Good to have you piloting as our host this weekend dear KM. Nice selection of pilots watches. I particularly like your Minerva and Zenith. The Breitling is definitely a real world pilots choice. Best regards Captain

Thanks Captain!

 By: KMII : April 15th, 2023-05:36
The Breitling is also the only watch here I was using while I still flew myself 😊👍🏻

Thanks so much for the kind words, Abel!

 By: KMII : April 15th, 2023-05:36
As always looking forward to seeing your entry 👍🏻👌🏻

Thanks HS111!

 By: KMII : April 15th, 2023-05:38
I do vaguely remember taking a picture of three of our P15s many years ago but don’t have access to that archive at this very moment 😊👍🏻

The first shot is absolutely amazing!!!

 By: KCLQMULKU : April 15th, 2023-18:19
And what wonderful pieces!

Great Minerva 😎👍

 By: enjoythemusic : April 14th, 2023-12:13
For us accuracy aficionados, she is +/-1 second in total after two weeks 24/7 on the wrist. ...

What a beautiful HMC..!

 By: hans_jorgen_1968 : April 14th, 2023-19:54

Thx Hans. 😎

 By: enjoythemusic : April 14th, 2023-21:21

My one and only pilot's watch,

 By: Thomas_3 : April 14th, 2023-13:10
won't ever part with this one. B&R 123-92 ...

Great shot, Thomas!

 By: KMII : April 15th, 2023-05:40
Would you mind sharing your story about it? 🤞🏻

I was both familiar and intrigued by B&R, my AD was having a watch show one weekend and I decided to go.

 By: Thomas_3 : April 15th, 2023-18:38
Went in, looked around, talked to a few of the factory reps and the B&R caught my eye. It took me all of about 3 seconds to say "I'll take it". There was just something about it I simply could not resist.

Seen here a few times - the 1953 Omega Pilot tool

 By: chippyfly : April 14th, 2023-13:13
It was in May 1962 while wearing an issued 1953 Omega Pilot watch that I first flew the DH Chipmunk in RAF service. That watch was regrettably handed back when I retired from the RAF in 1971. Eight years ago I bought this watch shared here and am privileg...

Really love your superb shots and enjoyed the pictured story !.. For me a winner here !!

 By: hs111 : April 14th, 2023-15:44

 By: KMII : April 15th, 2023-05:42
As always when it comes to the theme your shots are simply out of the ballpark 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

A poor copy of the June 1952 Goldsmith's order and specification for 5,900 1953 Omega Pilot Watches taken from my internet search. I think this has been shared on this site a few years ago. No wonder they are now quite rare. Clive ...

The Concord ! …

 By: Cpt Scarlet : April 14th, 2023-17:11
Absolutely fabulous, flying with style !

Oh! your Concord GMT Bill!! What a fantastic watch. And a fantastic ad you share here. Viewing its price in your exact configuration makes me I wonder around which year it was published.

 By: Subexplorer : April 14th, 2023-20:35
The Concord entered in service with Air France around 1976 so I guess the ad belonged to those years. Your shot shows it in all its glory with its distinctive hand set. Have a nice week end Bill! Best cordial regards, Abel

Time machine would be wonderfiul.

 By: Bill : April 15th, 2023-15:05
For now we can just dream of a golden era. The best time travel is the sensation we get with each watch we wear taking us back in time. Have a great Saturday.

Absolutely agree Bill!! You have said it with exact words…

 By: Subexplorer : April 15th, 2023-15:15
… I share same feelings here! Thank you! A nice Saturday for you too! Abel

Nico certainly has some watches from odd brands that need some looking after 😂😂😂 What an epic selection you show here, Brendon 👌🏻 But I have one question - what’s the car in the background with the horse pointing downwards?

It’s the family truck 🙂

Ah, Bronco 👌🏻

What’s the engine? They should start being sold in Europe at some point soon but one doesn’t not yet see them on the road, unlike the Mustang 😊

It’s a turbocharged 4 banger

 By: Brandon Skinner : April 16th, 2023-05:55
I think cuz it’s only 4 cyl Ford went out of there way not to mention it. I didn’t know the answer myself till I popped the hood… it doesn’t say it anywhere on the website (or at least it didn’t at the time of purchase).

That is interesting 😊

Hello Abel - Again what a nice line-up of models & shots !.. Well done !

The bronze Big Pilot is an impressive watch I feel. The Type XX is a favorite watch. It brings me so many fond memories of my trip to Paris and the special experience of buying it at the Place Vendome Boutique. Have a nice Sunday! Abel

As for the Gagarin…

There used to be a story…

 By: KMII : April 16th, 2023-05:51
That the A380 needs a crew of three. The pilot, to calm down the passengers, a dog that makes sure no one touches anything in the cockpit and a copilot to feed the dog 😉 So I guess no watches necessary 😂

That it most certainly does 😊

It must be quite an experience!
