That is what I am most grinding with. But at the same time it is a blessing, because he was fully healthy until just these 2 days ago. It was a primarily a heart problem, and related complications.
We feel he had no discomfort until the very end, and to be able to sit with him for 2 hours with my wife, son, and daughter, I will always praise God for that blessing.
A friend recently lost his dog in the other manner. Slow failing health, and holding on as long a possible until the animal literally could not walk around. If given the choice, I am grateful my dog did not suffer and knew only love in his life. But the shock does hit like a sledgehammer.
