I think we blur the line everyday. Creating some boundaries helps but then hit the term addiction or even affliction.
As long as you don't steal or harm anyone in your pursuit it remains a passion / obsession / compulsive "Hobby".....
It is a slippery road and probably the subject of a separate thread.

I own modern too.... so I am not totally anti-modern....there are certainly modern Rolex that i love. But ..... I love them because they are wearable versions of vintage that I dare not wear everyday.

There are two Rolex watches I love a lot: The Rasta Milgauss and the Yachtmaster. And for once, they are not really to be considered as re editions, clones of their Vintage sisters. They are, and that is very interesting, some fresh and inspired products....
YM has no vintage predecessor whereas the Rasta has the vintage Milgauss which..
