it could be that Nico meant "the first" that worked properly ? The Milgauss was certainly the first that was specifically designed for use against substantial magnetic force, no? Sometimes greatness is achieved on the shoulders of giants.

I think al ot people will agree here because older Rolex movements were among the very best ever made, trouble free and reliable, they are made to last generation. The dial variations and of course the exotic and rare version like the serpico i laino watc... 

All I can add is yes the Vintage Rolex has soul. They have survived the ravages of time yet the appear as modern today as any of the newer Rolex models But the retain an aesthetic balance that some of the newer model are challenging and in some cases not ...

Not sure about point 2, as each day brings its new lot of new Rolex fans and clients, who are very pleased with the Modern offers. We know both Modern abnd Vintage Rolex, and we clearly have our preferrences, but what about the new clients. As for point 4... 

I own modern too.... so I am not totally anti-modern....there are certainly modern Rolex that i love. But ..... I love them because they are wearable versions of vintage that I dare not wear everyday.

There are two Rolex watches I love a lot: The Rasta Milgauss and the Yachtmaster. And for once, they are not really to be considered as re editions, clones of their Vintage sisters. They are, and that is very interesting, some fresh and inspired products....

...great with many good and insightful comments.. I have to admit, I own, and have owned more modern than vintage Rolex watches.. however, it was due to this forum, and you my dear friends, that I caught the vintage bug a few years. I only want to say THA... 

I never like Rolex for the longest time until I bought the white milgauss. Even then I find it hard to add another Rolex to my collection. It could be the reason being the modern pieces lack originality. I kept thinking it is the same watch since the last...
