I wouldn't be so sure about holding value with a used watch ..it could increase in value but it is so difficult to say. For a nautilus I would rather go with the 5711. I really prefer new watches that start their history with me
but this is highly subjecting and I respect your view on this.
I just think that the value retention issue is a bit of a myth. If is sold today at X it is probably just worth X. I really don't worry so much about the value loss as I hope that I won't ever have to sell it but you might well be right that some watches, especially pateks in general, would lose a bit less given the very limited supply of new pieces.
At the same price level I did try the nautilus two-tone chrono. It wasn't really for me and I think the day date in platinum is really special but heh the beauty of this hobby is the great diversity in taste.
I am always intrigued to see these difference - thank you again for sharing !

P.S. according to chono24 the 3700 would be as much as the dd platinum - or is it that expensive? I really would never spend this kinda of money for an old steel watch!!
