I understand your disappointment
I felt the same when I discovered that there is no consideration from Rolex for their past models going vintage. Yes, you can go to an independent watchmaker etc... but frankly when one is used to deal with Patek and Vacheron Constantin vintage departments then you realize that Rolex is one big step down. It certainly puts in perspective the recent craze for their steel sports models selling at the same prices as high horological pieces.

Yes. I had the same experience. This is the standard practice.

The aim of Rolex is to sell new watches. If you have a vintage and want to have it serviced you must have it taken care of by an independent watchmaker.

If you came to San Francisco, our local Rolex Authorized Service Center would do it, no problem.
The one in San Francisco is a franchised Service Center, meaning it's not directly operated by Rolex.

RSC won't service your watch because:
