... Rolex service worldwide, so watches of let´s say more than 20/25 years should be sent to an independent watchmaker for service or repairs, except that you are willing to accept the change or original pieces like dials or handset, which of course reduce the valiue of the watch as a collectible.
These changes doesn´t matter for the owner who is just a user of the watch, for a non collector which most of the time will approve and be very happy to have his watch refurbished and even polished.
For Rolex watches of more than 40 years old like Submariners or GMT most of the time a Rolex Service will refuse to service them for lack of parts so it is a common practice for collectors of vintage to send them to a reliable independent watchmaker specialized in vintage pieces.
Your gold Datejust is gorgeous and you shouldn´t accept the replacement of its dial or handset, just understand that these are "the rules of the play" for this type of watches.
Don´t be ungry with Rolex, look for a good watchmaker and enjoy this most gorgeous and beautiful piece, that´s would be my personal suggestion.
Best cordial regards, Abel
