For me the PCC was the watch that got me so spell bound by Patek. I like you loved the earlier models but came into it at the end of the 3970 run when the earlier models were out of my reach. I remember so badly wanting a 3970r but for me the proportions ...

The 5970 size, dial and case are just perfection. Not to mention the refinished Lemania movement. I’d love to see a wrist shot on you my friend from further away. I also love the white Chrono hand on the 5970p. Makes such a big impact. M.

Seriously considered the 5270P, but ultimately went with 5970P. Close call.

Perhaps just semantics, but I wouldn’t describe it as “underrated”. But definitely “undervalued”. Arguably every bit as good as 5970, but much less expensive.

Personally, I never quite understood why many people could prefer a 5970 over a 3970.... The dial of the 5970 might feel a bit „bloated“ if compared to the 3970. It might feel a bit like they tried hard to enlarge it beyond its natural proportions (which ...

For my 17,5cm wrist the 3970 is perfect. But with 20cm and more this watch might not really be the best choice.

I love the 2499, 5004, 3970, 5970. However, the 3970 was the first I purchsed and has always been special to me. Love the pump pushers and the simplicity. I like the vintage look and feel, and the size is just perfect for a dressier watch. ...  

A 2nd series 3970G isn't very common, let alone the 3970P. I agree with everything you wrote about the 3970. For me, next to the 2499, it's my favorite PCC. Enjoy!

For me, the 2499 is the pinnacle of design of the Patek PPCs, in particular the 3rd series sans tachymeter. That makes the 3970 2nd series the best successor to it, IMO. I am very fortunate to own a beautiful rose gold version. It's the perfect style and ...

Does your model have the solid caseback? Assuming it does, as was the norm, do you miss not seeing the movement or is it a good trade-off to see those beautiful hands and markers of the second series?

I don't have a good photo of the beautiful movement, but I am fortunate that the previous owner secured a sapphire back.

For me, a Patek PCC was always a grail and must-have for a collection. I started with dreaming of the 3970 when it was actual and even more the 5970. When the 5270 was announced new, I was very thrilled about the new movement which is - at least technical...
