RM will be hitting 20 years

and I think they deserve credit for building a very savvy business plan and executing it well. RM watches are so light, it's just awesome.
But RM has miles to go before they can stand toe-to-toe with PP.
The day in the future when there are dozens of books written about RM watches, watch lovers can talk about 60-year-old RM watches in perspective, and RM puts on free exhibitions around the world for watch lovers will be the day RM has arrived on the pinnacle with PP.
And when we mention values (whether someone puts a watch in a safe or not), we have to add the perspective of time. There were 6 figure Franck Muller watches in the 1990's and early 2000s that IIRC were the hottest watches on the planet. There were high value AP ROOs that were sizzling less than 15 years ago. Nowadays, not so much.
Patek Philippe watches have had their staying power. Yes, I think Patek could have done something earlier to combat the hoarding of safe queens. The recent policy to stop selling watches that are sealed will hopefully help.
