Regarding 5170p diamonds on dial
I have been thinking about some of the comments dismissing the 5170p due to the diamond indexes
on the dial. While I fully understand the reaction of some of my fellow enthusiasts I ask you
to look beyond the gemstones. This watch is imho a work of art beyond its technical achievements.
People had no problem looking beyond the platinum bracelet in order to appreciate the 5131p
even though I would wager that some if not most have never purchased a patek dress watch
with a noble metal bracelet, let alone platinum bracelet.
I know I haven't and can assure you I never will.
Our respective lifestyles, environments and cultures have an impact on our tastes
not to mention our decisions about what to wear or drive etc., and so I understand
how more people are comfortable wearing a platinum bracelet on a dress watch as opposed to
Baguette diamonds on a patek dial.
This is not a shortcoming of the watch but rather a limitation / restriction of a persons
social , cultural environment.
I applaud Patek for releasing this watch as is and plan to support this decision by purchasing
A 5170p even though I have never purchased any timepiece with precious stones on dial or case.
It's class and elegance are unsurpassed. The case size is perfect as is the dial from what I have seen from the pictures.
A point regarding the sub second markings not matching the 4hz frequency is a minor issue for me.
What is important , in my opinion , is this 5170p while polarizing has nothing to fear from the opinions of some.
It is a masterpiece, regardless.
Humbly
