Patek Philippe

Patek....

.....are on record saying that the reference as a whole saw a maximum of 250 watches produced per year per metal. It is normal that the production overlaps a year...from Basel to Basel. Production is officially just a year, I believe. So, i see a maximum of 250 according to the Patek statement. However, I have spoken to a nunber of people linked to the company who have suggested that the actual number produced is closer to 150. I have also heard estimates as low as 100. The reality is that it is probably in a 100-250 range. I know people who were collecting in 2009 who now say that they were never ever offered a 5070. The same people say that they had no problem being offered a 5970P at the same time. Similarly, if you look at the frequency of offerings at auction, it suggests considerable scarcity. Either way, its a hard watch to find, but also hard to be definitive on final numbers. It was an application watch...so its distribution never really saw it readily available.

In terms of price, I believe it was around Β£43-45,000, back in 2009, but I cannot be certain. It was around that number. It moved immediately to around Β£65,000 and stayed there for a few years. It has been moving upwards for the last 3 years or so now to its current level.

Good luck with your decision.........
