Mark don't get me wrong...
... Those other brands, we over slashed them so hard that the moderators threatens to delete us. AP offshore, Richard mille, Hublot,... milking the cow till the last drop.
As a Patek fans, those brands are almost inexistent for me, i don't care what they do. But when it comes to Patek, i feel more concerned.
Those few pieces are not a fatal mistake, but they are another proof of a new trend in Patek :
- They are producing much more pieces, especially high ends. Rarity factor is melting down. Auctions results and 2nd market prices are confirming it, not just me.
- So many variations of a model, trying to cover all kind of taste, and please as many as possible. Don't forget that unlike rolex, you cannot buy just the dial. We have 6 variations of the 5270G?...Only 1 of the 5970G.
- Limited editions of a high end piece such as the 5270G ( munich ), something they don't usually do.
I understand boutique editions of a worldtime, with the name of the city or a new dial, even if they make a lot of these, it was more or less OK. But high end pieces should be protected from that trend.
All that is starting to add up, and its the trend that is worrying me.
I'm still a fan, still love their watches, still collecting, but starting to be worried about those kind of moves. The good part? It calmed me down, and the frenzy of adding new pieces.
