Problem
The problem with Omega is that, indeed, they are squeezing the moon watch like a lemon.
They have gone too far with limited editions on special editions, white grey Black you name it, they’ve got it
But it completely took the magic out of it
To me there are 3 Omegas that are worthwhile: the 3 they brought last year in one box Seamaster Railmaster and Speedmaster
My son owns an Speedmaster the moon watch professional. That’s watch I can relate to and feel the magic of first man on the moon
All other series are probably good for the shareholders but to me they hold little value
I’ve never quit got the hype on them.
Vacheron, Blancpain they’ve got it mastered on how to connect the past with present. Omega is only milking one watch that (let’s not forget by more luck than wisdom) got selected by NASA.
Sometimes I wonder if Omega would still exist if they didn’t get selected by NASA
but these are just my views. Quality wise they are great watches, style wise most are good, it’s just that “wow factor” that I’m missing

Ref 105.003 The legendary Ed White, Circa 1965. You can feel the history in this watch. All the marketing hype came later on.
2915s are for sure the most iconic but since a few years their prices have skyrocketed. Aesthetically speaking my favourite reference is 2998 with straight lugs and alpha hands. A good and
all original 2998-1 is unbeatable IMHO. Furthermore you, as you mentioned, also 105.002 is a great reference above all for its rarity.

I will also say I am not a big fan; I mean the watch is ok but it is my personal, non-funded and totally subjective belief that no man has ever put a foot on the moon.... oh I said it....

I don’t yet see the passion to acquire a speedy in your post. It seems you still need some time to choose a reference that sings to you, crossing my fingers for you that in the meantime the crazy vintage prices calm down a bit.
I like lots of Omegas including Speedmasters. While my collection lacks sophistication due to the low number of vintage, I remember getting up at 3am to watch every manned NASA
