I was shocked by the fact that omega charged for the Crystal replacement as what would rolex charge for full service of a watch . It is disappointing that service and Crystal cost represented 20 % of the cost of a new watch.. I wonder what they are thinking … I would be vary of buying omegas in the future ..

Yes it is. To be fair, i went through their service thinking it is what it is. But then a few weeks into getting my piece from service, i get a winding problem..

Do you mean a Speedmaster vs a Daytona ?
You should only compare the service cost of a chronograph to the one for another chronograph… rather than 3 hands and date only. Although I don’t know about Rolex services charges, they may charges flat fee for all their watches.
My solution
is to buy a hesalite Speedmaster, and have it serviced at my local watch shop. Costs are usually very low and service times very fast. I know it does not compare to your piece but this is the practical way I envision Speedmaster ownership

980 total sounds alright if you say it really fast. I thought you wrote the crystal was already at 700 which Rolex asks for a service. In the end it's crazy indeed what it costs to service a watch. Let's say you paid 4k for the watch, that's 1/4 already. ...
My experience with Omega service in New York has been stellar.

Mechanical watches servicing involves complete dis-assembly, inspection, replacement parts, re-assembly, lubrication, seals replacement, etc…
