Mechanical watches servicing involves complete dis-assembly, inspection, replacement parts, re-assembly, lubrication, seals replacement, etc…

 

all done by hand… then testing and regulating hence it will necessarily be costly. The sapphire crystal which is not meant to get scratched will be expensive as almost certainly hardly ever replaced and keeping spare parts inventory is expensive…

The people who perform these services are qualified hence they deserve a reasonable compensation for their skills and efforts.

I send my watches for servicing only when they develop issues. Am I correct ? Am I wrong ? I don’t know… Thus far watches bought from 2006 onward did not develop any issues…
