Tough call
Such different watches.
Smith is so much more rare, with so much more handcraft. Classic British watchmaking. You're unlikely ever to see another on someone else's wrist in ordinary daily life.
Patek's handwound PC is very special, IMO, and obviously a much more complicated piece. Classic Swiss watchmaking here.
While I appreciate the handcraft that goes into Smith's watches, I have never come to appreciate his austere movement layout and finishing. I understand it is a completely different approach than the Swiss approach, but I much prefer the Swiss aesthetic. So for me, rarity be damned, I would have to opt for the Patek PC, but in this case, I would probably track down a 5970, which aesthetically is just perfect even if the "old" movement isn't as special as the new one.
Cheers,
John
