is a master and arguably the best in movement finishing. Few would argue this point. I think it is personal preference whether one prefers the more popular Swiss finishing or the more sombre English finishing of the movements. Roger produces his watches from start to finish and arguably spends more time on each part than almost any independent. Have you seen the 3D hands of a RW Smith that takes a week to make. Yes that is 4 hands on the Series 2 take a week to make. He has also improved on the co-axial escapement which George Daniels invented by reducing the number of wheels from two to one. He has improved the accuracy on the co-axial escapement which already contributed to improved accuracy. How many other independents can say that their watches will not require any maintenance for 10 to 15 years? When I look at a watch, I try to consider every area from movement finishing, dial, case, lugs, buckle, accuracy, exclusitivity, reliability, price and most importantly how well it suits my wrist. For these reasons, the Patek 5270R and the the RW Smith series 2 have triumphed over the rest (for me at least).
