EXCEPT his watches? For me, this is Vainney halter. I love and admire everything I read about this man. I want to WANT his watches, but the designs just don't do it for me. It's a funny thing to admire a watchmaker's values, personality, courage, etc... y... 

A fairly major player. I love "practical" designs. And Sinn really strive for that "do everything" design: tegemented, lume, quartz when appropriate, reasonable size, etc. But try as I might (and I have tried- twice) they just don't do it for me.

I have one or two, VH and DB. I love their philosophy, I could not see myself wearing/ buying one of their watches. On another note, much more important in numbers are all the watch models or even brands that I do not like... No names here of course. Suff...

Maybe I was looking for this exact sort of reflection on this. Well, I was just thinking about the fascinating watchmakers of our time... and shrug.. the question arose in my mind. Thanks for all replies!

Horo....thanks for the thought, and well, may not agree fully, but truly respect your opinion For me, it actually involves many factors.....jus like running our biz, and dealing w customers.... Some can become very good friends, and some jus as customers,...

the circumstances under which you took a dislike to this brand or person. After all, the feelings at the time may have been mutual! Whatever the reasons, a watch is still a watch - even a great watch. A fleeting negative impression, say a "slight," as per...

I had an experience a couple of years ago when I really wanted a watch and even chose the model I was going to buy... but then met the person behind the company who was the rudest person ever, not just to me but to his staff as well. I had the money ready... 

brand I buy as much the people as the watch itself. And if I don't like the person the watches no matter how beautiful will not appeal to me Just to give an example, about 6-7 years ago I had an extremely bad contact with a representative of a large brand... 

my appreciation of watches is totally tied to my appreciation of the people behind. If I have the feeling that I do not get treated in a respectful manner I quickly lose interest, and eventually sell the watches of the respective brand/maker. But so far I...

To the extent one views fine watches as a form of art, my opinion is that the watches be considered on their own merits. Now, if one dislikes a watchmaker becausehe won't fix problems that might arise, that is a practical consideration that might interfer... 

Somehow this thread 'deteriorated' into (possibly) not liking the watchmaker. I started it by asking if there is a watchmaker that you LOVE everything about... except his watches? Is this a strange example of human nature flipping a subject around? Oh wel...
