I understand that there will always be some aspect of all watch makers creativity, personality and productivity that we like and dislike...but to me...their watches should reflect the totality of these processes. In Andrews case..he expresses his liking of VH watches EXCEPT the size, and that's a deal breaker for him, and Terence expressed his admiration for the Max Busser but not his watches.
To me, I will "put up" with the watches from any independent watchmaker, even if I deem his design not attractive!! Why...because if his product and creation is truly reflective of his philosophy and creativity and ethos...and I BELIEVE THAT...meaning that it feels GENUINE to me...not contrived...I will put up, pay up, and shut up....that's the floor mat that I am
Also, there will be watches from different time period that you believe to be true, and not others. Early Franck Muller complications to me is really exciting....the Master Banker was I watch I really liked. Why in past tense...because it has evolved into something I do not respect, and the brand and the maker himself is no longer relevant horologically IMHO. So even in the same product and design, there will be some I deem more collectable and reflective of the true spirit of a certain era.
Some designs and watches from Indies I like a lot, but I think it's a lot more fluff then watch...I will avoid. I respect Max Busser a lot, and I do own some of his creations. Take the HM3 for example...I own the what I term as HM3 classic, like Coke Classic. But some...not all...just some of the derivative from it is not to my likings. Maybe it has to be done commercially, and for the attractiveness of the brand to more people, but to me, I don't agree with it. That doesn't detract me from buying more MBnFs.
Best,
Horo
