They should try another approach. Why not try it this way. Make that LE , but ... . Do you care how many pieces that will be made ? 500 ? 1000 ? 1500 ? A lot of guys will always be frustrated because they did not get one I think it would be a good solution if they did not fix a number form the start. When the watch is shown at SIHH give the clients 2 months to think about it. 2 months must be enough. The die hard fans will see the watch within 24 hours because they follow the websites. Less fanatic clients will see the watch in watch magazines. In these 2 months people who want the watch should go to their AD and give a big deposit (30% % or even 50%). After these 2 months ( and not one day more) the AD should give the number of clients who paid the deposit to the manufacture. The manufacture takes counts all these numbers from all the AD around the world and make exactly that number of watches. Than you have a limited edition that was made during only 2 months. If there is demand for 398 watches, than make 398 watches. If the demand was 2587 watches, than make 2587 watches. Every client is happy because everybody who wanted the piece will get it. Flippers will hesitate because they knew it was not that hard to get so they probably won't risk to pay a 30% or 50% deposit.( you loose the deposit if you don't buy the watch at the end) On the other hand, if for some reason the demand was not that big, you could get a very rare watch. I hope Panerai will consider this with the 372. I love that watch and I ordered it. I will buy it and I will wear it. I hope all the people who want this piece will get one but I also do hope they won't make it a regular production watch . I mean, this is a historic ' important' piece and I don't hope they will make 6000 or 8000 of them. The 3000 that are planned should be enough to have a balance between ask and bid. So why not stop production when the big demand at the AD stopped ? I took Panerai as an example but you can replace it with any brand ofcourse. AP has the same LE problem
