I think the whole watch LE thing is overused. However, if an LE watch turns up that you find attractive, why not get that rather than the standard edition? That's the only real arbiter in the end. Some companies use the idea to bounce new ideas off the market place to see the kind of responses they get (diamond dial Radiomirs anyone?)
I know some people put their names down with dealers for all the ceramic IWC's, LE Panerai or ROO's which is fine if you have fairly unlimited funds. The down side is I know most of these are going to sit in a safe never to be used until the buyer tries to realise some profit. No different from stocks and shares I guess, but if the purchase is for profit alone, then I think I would prefer to get something like a piece of art I can at least see every day, rather than some virtual collection which sits in a bank somewhere.
It feels to me that for certain brands there are now more LE models than the standard piece. At the end of the day, all production, no matter what of, is limited in number.
Just my 2 pennies worth
