My ref. 5327 Perpetual calendar of Breguet came with a box that it is a watch winder... There is an Orbita Database on Orbita'a web sitet hat has most models of automatic watches, stating if the watch winds CW, CCW, or both and how many TPD (turns per day... 

To be honest I am not sure if you can over wind a watch. I always hear about a clutch mechanism that protects from over winding. I hope some of the experts around here can shed some thoughts. But in general I would say the jury is out on that one. Bill

Bill, Thanks for the response... Yes I heard about the clutch, that does not let overwinding to happen... But does not that means that this poor cluch takes action almost continuously???... The problem with winders is that the only literature one can get ... 

It is a winder that has the right functionality that matches the watches TPD (turns pr day) capabilities. But in general you get what you pay for. So I would not put my watches on a winder that I do not control and understand their cycle per day. As you c... 

....I reinvestigated the options of my winder and have now set the barrels to wind 33 turns CwWand then 33 turns ACW ....It will be interesting to see if the watches wind down. I have also sactivated one of my cronos to see what the extra load does as in....

as long as the TPD in the desired direction is enough to wind it... That is why some good names in the winder trade have always bidirectional movement (eg WEMPE, Underwood et al.) So if the watch is winded the CW or CCW is OK... One of my Paul Picot watch...

I for one don't believe in the watch winders... At least Twice per month, I wind my watches by myself. But I'll ask to JLC what they think about the watch winders, and I let you know. Ok, Ok...Even if I don't believe in these watch winders...I'll do it. L...
