a fantastic thread!!!
Many-many great memories, just to mention some:
1. The watch which brought me here:
I discovered the watch on a german watchmagazine and after reading the article of the history of Geophysic I got so excited that I called immediately my AD whether they have it on stock or not. When I heard the response I almost drop down my handy: “ Dear Mr. X., You are very lucky, we have just received one more Geophysic in steel! “
The rest is history and I am here in this great community!
2. The watch which was a great catch, lying new at the same AD of mine in the shelter of the shelves:
One of the rarest Speedmaster without an artificial limitation, rumours say that the total number is around 365 pieces worldwide within the one production year..
3. The watch which I found total accidentally during a window shopping:
Yes, the “Speedy Moon” with Tritium dial, the first batch of Speedmasters with moonphase... The professional seller had absolute no idea about the market price of the watch and he thought that the watch is the same as the modern serial one and the price was according to it...
4. The watch which came to me:
Yes, the beautiful and legendary Union Glashütte Bergter Edition, limited only 200 pieces worldwide.
I found the watch on ebay, I started to communicate with the german seller. After he realised in which country I live he wrote to me that he can only thanks to our nation because once we saved his life.
After all turned out that I live at the same city in our little country where he had once a lover, he decided to bring the watch personally to me and take a little sightseeing in the forgotten city... What a day was that, Mates!!!!
5. The WATCH, which is one of my Grail watch:
I bought ( actually traded ) it literally during a big and memorable GTG...
6. The watches which I can thank to somebody who is also here, without any further comments, just mention the “moscow connection” or “from Russia with Love”:
7. The watch, which I can get for retail without a waiting list:
And it happened just now, just before the watch discontinued! All I can say is: a big thanks - again - for a great Purist, a flyin Saucer, tall and happy man!
8. Last but no least, the watch which came fast to me:
The Panograph was almost 10.000 km far away from me, in Singapore, I found the watch on Chrono24, advertised by a private person. I was the very first person who contacted with him but I was hesitating to wire the money for a private person, whom I didn’t know at all.
During my hesitation other two people was ready to buy at once the watch for the advertised price, which was a bit more than my bargained price.
What could I do 10.000 km far away from my object of dream? The answer was obvious: find some Purist’s friend in the nearby..
The seller said to me on Friday if I can arrange that somebody at the weekend pick up the watch it will be mine. What can I say? Somebody, a very gentle Purist member from here was there on Sunday for the watch...
And it is still not the end of the story! We arranged a meeting in Switzerland to pick up my watch, I was just to book my plane tickets, when I asked my Purist friend, whether he will be also somewhere else in Europe, when came the answer: “ Of course, I will be shortly in Vienna “.
VIENNA? I couldn’t believe what I have heard: VIENNA!
Well, this beautiful town, the capital city of Austria, situated just 120 km from my hometown...
A fate, a destiny??? That’s the story how can I catch a Glashütte Original Panograph watch in two days 10.000 km far away from me and how the watch flyed across the oceans and mountains to land just 120 km away from me, to find her real husband..
All I can say: it couldn’t be happened without this great Community! Thanks for Purists!!!
Truly yours,
Adam
