By: AndrewD : February 11th, 2010-19:10
It's that time of the week again ... a hiatus between SIHH and Basel ... and Chinese New Year approaching. Time to dust off the watch box and select something special for the weekend ...

Nice bracelet, tell me more

By: Geo : February 11th, 2010-22:07

Yes, this is jade, or more correctly ...

By: AndrewD : February 12th, 2010-00:39
Hi GEO, Yes this is jade, or more correctly jadeite. The quality (and price) varies depending on translucency and the absence of internal flaws, amongst other things. A nice accoutrement for the New Year. Pleased you like it. Andrew

Racing this morning ;)

Things take time

By: hans_jorgen_1968 : February 12th, 2010-21:27
Hi Graham You are right, you have all the possibilites now. Its just to take the time to find the right solution for you. When I divorced I looked at different options. Move to Germany and have a fat big car but no pay of heavy DK taxes. Move to the city ...

Hey, Miki, you can have it . . .

By: Dr No : February 13th, 2010-10:03

Wearing that beauty

By: rnaden : February 13th, 2010-00:55
for a meeting with the tax accountant can't be good...he might make a demand on it or make you pay more taxes!

Nice photo of the Omega Boutique ...

By: AndrewD : February 12th, 2010-16:25
Do you find that the salespeople are interested in their history on your wrist? I wonder what an Omega Boutique will look like in another 50 years? Enjoy the weekend. Andrew

Happy with the new addition to the "family"

By: Ginger : February 11th, 2010-22:12

Love this Pilot

By: rnaden : February 11th, 2010-23:48
Always been one of my favorites from IWC, but it's a tad to big for my skinny wrist, so I can only wish for now...been stocking up on weight gainers so I can wear this someday ;-) HAGWE, Richard

The Milgauss is looking good on you

By: Bill : February 12th, 2010-00:27
Hi Richard You should never say never. Any chance you get you should give the big pilot a shot. It just might fit you. Bill

Have done that

By: rnaden : February 12th, 2010-01:30
I've been to the AD and have tried it on for size on more than one occasion...at this point of time, I have gotten feedback that I might as well have a clock strapped to my wrist :-D No giving up though....and will keep trying!

Today!!!!!

By: big daddy : February 11th, 2010-22:27
I just cannot get the Sarpaneva Korona RG off my wrist!!!!...

Superb watch!

By: Geo : February 12th, 2010-00:31
Can imagine you're wearing that all the time. Excellent size too. GEO

a lovely piece Big Daddy, made better because of its custom changes

By: G99 : February 13th, 2010-05:59
it is, i think, a lovely thing to have a truly unique piece in your collection, something that means more to you because you asked for those changes. best and enjoy it, although i know you do Graham

Understated beauty

By: rnaden : February 11th, 2010-23:47
Very nice Hamilton...I like the combination of the dial and the brown strap...it seems to mesh perfectly. Richard

Ah, a square watch design . . .

By: Dr No : February 12th, 2010-07:50
. . . set alongside fabric with imprinted squares . . . quite complementary!

A very 'dressy' combination ...

By: AndrewD : February 12th, 2010-16:34
I like the shape and position of the date window, the crown and, for a square watch, the very legible dial. You could well have the masthead two weeks running with that shot, Davo. Very nice. Andrew

A classic

By: rnaden : February 12th, 2010-00:05
and I can't tell now if the pic is in black and white or color ;-) Richard

Thanks Geo...

By: DrStrong : February 12th, 2010-01:17
...in fact the picture is in color, but the old picture in the background make it look like sepia. I never use photoshop, I never could figure out how it works Cheers Jeff

. . . and by far and away my favorite current Rolex . . . cordially, Art

Thanks...it took a while

By: rnaden : February 13th, 2010-00:52
I've always stayed away from Rolex...too common and boring, was my take, but have always like the Explorer II and this...so it is my favorite current Rolex too I've also changed my mind about them now that I've seen for myself the quality of their pieces....

It was a lucky guess.

By: AndrewD : February 13th, 2010-15:12
I haven't been going through your mail or anything. It's the perfect watch for you then. Nicely done. Andrew

By: Davo : February 12th, 2010-02:44
I'd have trouble taking that lovely thing off my wrist. Wear it proudly, Sam.

You kill me Sam

By: amanico : February 12th, 2010-23:58
It seems that there is a malediction upon my head with the 5070... I was one of the first on the list for the P.... Silence Radio. Then I had at least 6 times the opportunity to get a G...Each time , a disaster... So I can feel the pleasure and the happin...

Thank you Nico...

By: samwan : February 13th, 2010-00:53
Yes, this watch is a real classy one, Somehow it never stopped singing to me. I will post better pics in due course. My friend with superb photography skills - as you can probably guess - is ogygia. You saw his gorgeous pics of the JLC pieces... Best Sam

That would be an excellent idea, Sam

By: amanico : February 13th, 2010-01:06
To let Ogygia take some pics of your 5070P... Damn, he really know how to use a camera! Best, my friend. Nicolas

hi Art

By: Tony A.H : February 12th, 2010-09:35
the Date Background Color changed to Black when the 5004 was introduced ( Newer Dial ) mine is a 5002 ( which is the first generation) Cheers Tony

...although the dial takes me back to elementary school, staring up at the clock over the blackboard, willing the time to move faster... Tom

great Accutron Mike. why did they never become the icons they deserved to be

By: G99 : February 13th, 2010-06:12
i've always loved them, NASA loved them, the Concorde designers loved them, but despite their supreme accuracy on the wrist they were still beaten by the curse of the Quartz. very sad. best Graham

neat watch

Tom, yes you have good memory. i read and learnt from the Chronometer Wristwatch book which said that both cal.70.1 and cal.70.3 were made for the chronometer line. i am out of town, maybe i will post some pics of the movement and also the caseback which ...

Marc, that bezel transforms the watch into something special

By: G99 : February 13th, 2010-06:17
am i right in thinking that the bezel is pretty much the only difference between the turn-o-graph and a datejust? if thats the case then it is amazing what a bezel can do. you say it is mid 60's, would it be 64 by any chance? if it is and you tire of it t...

Hi Graham, from what I can tell....

By: marcD : February 13th, 2010-13:01
its sometime between 62-64 according to a local watch maker. I believe the ref number is 1625 with a 1530 movment. I have seen this referred also as a Turn-O-Graph "Thunderbird". I am also a big fan of the rotating bezel, not only in the æsthetics but als...

two watches :-)

By: jml_watches : February 12th, 2010-15:33
Hi All Wearing two watches - again! Can't seem to get out of the habit, its now considered almost normal for me at work to have two on!! Here they are - old shots, but think they show them well JLC Master moon - the older one before it got too big! Nomos ...

You know the old saying ...

By: AndrewD : February 12th, 2010-17:04
"A man with one watch always knows the time, but a man with two can never be sure" . LOL Still, any excuse to wear watches is a good one. Your Master Moon has been a long term favourite of mine, and of course draws on a very long history. Look forward to ...

Wow, the Master Moon is superb.

By: amanico : February 12th, 2010-21:49
I prefer this version ot the latest, too. A Classic from " La Grande Maison ". HAGWE, Nicolas

Just think of it

By: rnaden : February 13th, 2010-01:03
as ensuring you have the time for multiple time zones, just in case :-D I like both pieces. Richard

dual time zones

By: jml_watches : February 13th, 2010-13:38
Hi The dual time zones comment has been made before - It becomes sort of redundant, when one of the two watches is a Reverso Duo Oh Well I'm sure there's a reason to know the time in three time zones at once Think perhaps, because I can JML

funny that JML, i always...

By: G99 : February 13th, 2010-05:45
funny that JML, i always wear 2 watches as well unless its to a family GTG or function. i do it as i have so many that need regular wear and try to put a different style on each wrist. best Graham

follow your logic

By: jml_watches : February 13th, 2010-13:41
Hi Graham Thats sort of my logic too. Other than some mornings I just can't decide and put two on. Its not unusual for them to get changed again later on in the day - just because. Think if I could get away with three I probably would! Cheers JML

LOL!!  :)) i used to...

By: G99 : February 13th, 2010-13:47
LOL!! :)) i used to get asked 'why are you wearing 2 watches' and i always replied 'because i have 2 wrists, why are you wearing 2 earrings/shoes etc'. most people that know me have given up now and just take me as they find me :) best Graham

untill i can grow a third and fort arm

By: Bill : February 13th, 2010-08:03

Because it's a holiday of sorts...

By: pplater : February 12th, 2010-21:41
This piece will get some wrist time today and for the weekend. Its 'festive' dial has come to be reserved for 'special' days: Australia Day, Easter, National Chocolate Covered Raisins Day, Priests and Nuns Day and now Chinese New Year. At a pinch it could...

Or mourn a lost one ...

By: AndrewD : February 13th, 2010-19:08
A lovely festive watch. An example of J*D doing what they were best at. Have a great weekend. Andrew

Swapped watches ...

By: AndrewD : February 13th, 2010-19:05
Thanks Daos, Between meals at the moment; more feasting tonight. Have swapped over to the the Minerva Triple Date Moonphase Chronograph today, principally because the moonphase seemed more appropriate for the New Year. Will try for some photos later. A

Cool!

By: dxboon : February 15th, 2010-10:59
I love your Minerva! I hope you enjoyed the feast! Those oysters looked tasty. I know a lot of people don't care for shellfish, but I have yet to meet a mollusk, snail, or similar that I haven't liked. Cheers, Daos

One is never enough …

By: AndrewD : February 15th, 2010-16:03
Thanks Daos I actually had the Submariner on the other wrist, as you can see from this TO post (here with the lobster course) . I rarely wear two watches except around the house or when meeting other WIS, but I thought I could get away with it because of ...
