I have a couple of such cases, too 😁
To mirror you, I will start with the Minerva Pythagore. First seen live the first time I met another forum member live - I believe it was 2015 in Vienna, and it was Adam, the owner of this and several other Minervas. We had a lovely chat, I loved the watch. On and off I was thinking of getting it but somehow it never worked out. Then I was honored to be made a moderator here late in 2016 and decided that a MB post really needed an appropriate historical entry. So I called Adam and we met in his home town the same evening, and the watch changed owners 😁
I scan relate to your Speedmaster story and I am still without one. There is another watch that took me many years to get - the Doxa Searambler. Doxa was one of the few Swiss watch brands that used to retail in my home country when I was a kid. And while I have no recollection of ever having seen one I knew the name since early childhood. When I got into watches in 2014 and started reading about them here I really got excited and knew I needed one. What held me back is that I do not dive and hence the Purist in me saw a dive watch as somehow the wrong choice. Be that as it may I always admired them in posts and kept on dreaming. Like with your Minerva I waited till they were sold out and then close to a Christmas many years later I checked online if any were available and found one. It sold before I could commit but the seller had another incoming and that was mine 😁 Not something I wear all the time but it’s an equally apt Kidrambler as it is Searambler, so at least I have found a tool use for it.
Last but not least the JLC MCM. Fell in love with the Magali Metrailler design the first time I saw it, tried it on often, knew it would be my first JLC (well there were others, too but somehow thought it would be this), for some reason postponed buying it for years and then got it soon after the Doxa in 2019.
Have a great weekend!
