Hello dear Boris! Nice to have you again hosting our classic event WS!
You bring an interesting Theme which will bring some interesting stories from our participants.
Sometimes the stars are a bit slow in align perfectly to allow a timepiece we have been coveting for long to finally arrive to our wrists.
I also feel that many times it is the watch which finds us.
You tell two charming stories which confirm my feelings.
I will share here one of my stories:
I had been desiring to own a Patek World Time (my grail watch!) for many years but its price was well beyond my confort level around watch investing.
Then a good friend of mine alerted me about a pre owned example in pristine condition being offered in a local watch shop I had never visited before.
I delayed several weeks to pay the visit to the shop and when I finally did, I was told that just a few days before the owner of the watch had retrieved the watch because he had decided not to sell it.
It was a shame I hadn’t visited the shop sooner because the watch was almost unworn and complete set with box and papers and the price was more than reasonable for the 5110g model.
About two years later I received a phone call from the shop:
The very same watch was again there for sale as the owner needed to fund another Patek for his collection! Same price, same watch condition!
I visited the shop the following day, inspected the watch and took it home with the excitement of fulfilling a long dream!
Here a few shots of my 5110g
Have a nice weekend dear Boris and all friends here!!
