As told in my opening post my skin doesn’t bear the feeling of rubber straps so I can’t enjoy the many choices in colors and styles of these nice straps:
So called “sail cloth”, canvas or leather can be a practical and sometimes surprising choice to replace rubber straps.
In some of my watches (and just for aesthetic reasons) I can’t imagine them with any other option than their original metal bracelets:
For example, these watches…
Regarding Nato straps:
I love their practical presence and the big array of colors and the way they look in photographs … or in the wrists of other watch owners but I find they look awful on my own thin (17cms) wrist as I don’t like the bulk they show at each side of the watch.
Anyway I got a large collection of them accumulated through my collecting journey which I use for photography and as a provisional straps in a new vintage arrival till I find a suitable bracelet or straps.
Leather straps?
I love them! They can make a big change in the character of a watch. I love to play with the texture and colors of different leathers and skins.
I also found that changing a dull OEM black or grey leather strap for a colorful one made me wear some watches more often to enjoy their new more attractive looks.
Of course in certain watches like Panerai leather straps changing is part of the fun of owning and wearing them!
Look forward to know about your preferences and choices!
Happy weekend!
