Hello Andy! Thank you so much for your kind compliments on the dial of my 5512. I´m happy to know you like the strong character it adds to this old Sub.

As you know, there is a strong debate among collectors and watch lovers about the difference of patina and decay or just rust and about the beauty of these watches with such an strong change from its original color and surface.
I sometimes have a mental debate myself about this matter. When this watch was offered to me several years ago first thing I did was asking the seller to open its case back and view the inside and its movement. I guessed I would find a mess thinking that water inside had something to do with the dial looks. I was greatly surprised to find that inside case and movement was in pristine condition and no indication of having been flooded anytime in the past.
It was after some thinking and viewing the watch that I finally decided to jump on it and never regretted. I must say that when I showed it to different collectors some of them told me they didn´t like the looks of this type of dials while many others approved. As it is said "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder".
Thank you so much again for your kind comments. Best cordial regards, Abel
